Jason with the Piedmont Virginia Community College team asking if its a good idea to use the lever from the motor cycle that is used for the clutch (or something very similar) and attach it to the shifting lever? Any tips and/or advice will be most helpful, Thanks for looking.

That is a very common solution and one that works pretty well. Not too many bugs to work out, although the hydraulic versions are much nicer than cable driven.

If you want a hydraulic that works well, HEBO makes one that sells for around 100EUR if I recall correctly (has been a while since our last combustion car)

Don't forget though, cables don't leak and never need to be bled.

They can fray and bind if not properly installed and are generally much larger and harder to route than a hydraulic line.

(Just playing devil's advocate...We'd always used cables, but I had always wanted to use hydraulics.)

Make sure the moment required around the arm's pivot is the same in your car as it is on the motorbike. If your cable pulls on the clutch arm at an angle of 10 degrees between them, and the motorcycle has it at 90 degrees, well, you can do the vector algebra to see why you'll have trouble!

Both hydraulic and cable can do the job, just check for the outlet position while choosing the hydraulic one, since it'll be mounted vertically on your shifter (I guess?). You dont want your master cylinder starving for oil!

We are planing on using the cable system. I would like to thank you for your comments you have been most helpful.
