Hello everybody!
I'm a member of the electric division of the university of Padua and for the first time we are working on the design of a full monocoque.
We are willing to design the steering arm such that it passes inside the monocoque so my question is: in the definition of the high of the SES equivalent panels can we ignore small holes as the one of the steering arm?

thank you in advance!

Giorgio,

In addition to losing the height of the holes, you also get a stress concentration in any load trying to go around them. I would calculate the stresses in the area of the holes and use those for design of at least local reinforcement.

Thank you Charles!

Another fast doubt: The ses allows to define the hight of the side impact but to match with the tubular structure per rule T3.25.3 i'd say it should extend up to 350mm above the ground. Am I misunderstanding the rules?
