Hello all,
I am a member of a FSAE team looking to compete in FSAE Italy 2015.
We are planning to buy the ECU, but are confused between Motec M400 and Performance Electronics PE3. We cannot find much difference between the two, even though the price difference is too high. Could someone explain the main differences between the two so that we could finally decide which one to go for? We are using the Honda CBR 600 Engine. Also, we would be using flat shifter and pedal shifter with it, so please mention if PE3 supports it or not.

The MoTeC brand had an early start many years ago, and set themselves at the top of the market. Reaching peak fame (and some confusion) with "Motec system exhaust" in the movie Fast and Furious. :) MoTeC are the control ECU in V8 Supercars and maybe other series. So, that brand will be more expensive, and every other newer option in the market has to price lower. But Motec offer good support with their forum, questions often answered by a staff member. Or just call them. And since the Motec M400 goldbox has been around for maybe 15 years, its just a solid unit people know.

But you could also make or buy your own MegaSquirt and it will do the job. You only need 1990's electronics to run an engine.

Pedal shifter? Please explain.
