Goodyear's Research, Development, Engineering & Quality (RDE&Q) organization is responsible for delivering high-quality products and growing Goodyear's innovation capability globally. Goodyear's technical organization consists of 2,200 associates worldwide. Development work occurs in two Goodyear Innovation Centers, including Akron, Ohio and Luxembourg; and a development center in Hanau, Germany.
The Global Tire & Mold Engineering organization within RDE&Q is comprised of a global team of engineers and scientists that develop the next generation of Goodyear products. Associates work in cross-functional teams and are responsible for utilizing and applying cutting edge development tools to make mechanics-based decisions for the design and development of tires. A position within the Global Tire * Mold Engineering group works to ensure the future success of Goodyear products in the marketplace. Travel opportunities to support plant development or participate in joint tests with our customers may be available. The cross-functional nature of tire development allows for exposure to other areas of the company, which can lead to many career development or advancement opportunities within the company.
The salary of this position will vary based on the selected individual's experience and background.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field required.
Masters degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field is preferred
Ability to utilize advanced scientific methodologies
Fundamental understanding of scientific principles
Ability to form strong working relationships with Goodyear associates and customers
Understanding of vehicle dynamics
Solid written and verbal communication skills
Willingness to travel
Ability to work in a cross-functional setting
Ability to adapt to new challenges
Tire development experience is desired
Tire manufacturing experience is desired
Minimum 2 year's experience
Ability to carry out assignments in a logical fashion using existing technology and standardized methods.
Tasks
Develop new innovative products and technologies for Goodyear.
Analyze critical tire-vehicle interactions.
Serve as a technical liaison with vehicle manufacturers as well as the Goodyear business team.
Provide technical support for manufacturing facilities around the world.
Utilize computational tools to predict or model tires.
Expand fundamental knowledge of tire mechanics.
