Hi

I am Sudharshan from Team Ojas, India. We just completed our design for the 2015 season and we have decided to place our battery packs in side pods, the design of packs are such that the height of the frame enclosing it is reaching up to approximately 600 mm. Now there is an additional modification in 2015-16 FSAE rules aerodynamic section precisely T9.4.2 which states that:

"any aerodynamic devices, or other bodywork, located between the transverse vertical planes positioned at the front and rear axle centerlines must not exceed a height of 500 mm (19.7 inches) above the ground when measured without a driver in the vehicle. (Bodywork within vertical fore and aft planes set at 400 mm (15.75 inches) outboard from the centerline on each side of the vehicle is excluded from this requirement)."

We haven't designed our side pods to play any role in aerodynamics but its height does exceed 500 mm above the ground, does this lead to violation of this rule..??

Thanks for your answers.

Sudharshan,

Asking rules questions can only get you some opinions at best.
You need to direct your query to the rules committee of the first event you wish to enter.
