Hi,
i read 2010 rules and didn't find anything talking exactly about this.
Can the engine protrude from the bottom tube of the chassis in its end part near the rear of the chassis?
Somewhere in this forum i read somebody saying it is not allowed but i cannot find this rule on FSAE Rules.

This was proposed for 2010...
B.6.2 Ground Clearance Engine oil pan and all other fluid containers, e.g. radiators, must not project below the bottom frame rail when viewed in direct side view.
But it wasn't implemented.

From what I can find, "good engineering practice" is the only real concern in this area. We have put the engine where if we lost both rear wheels, it would settle on the frame and not the oil pan. It does stick out of the "envelope" of the chassis though. I think that this was a proposed rule that never passed.
