Hi, i'm vignesh. i am part of formula electric car team known as TEAM OJAS. we are a group of inexperienced engineers. we were thinking of placing the batteries in the side pods supported by structural members. we like to know whether it would violate any rules.

Vignesh,

Welcome to the forums! Yes, it can be done as long as the batteries are protected from collision as specified by the rules.

The batteries and driver compartment must also be separated by a firewall, if I am not mistaken.

I would strongly recommend reading the appropriate rules and interpreting them yourself or submitting an inquiry to the rules committee if you are unsure.

Owen is right. Every part of the HV system must be separated by a firewall from the driver. Additionally it might be necessary to have an additional side impact structure between batteries and driver. Make sure to read and understand the rules and ask the rules committee of the competition you intend to participate in, if your solution would be legal.
