An internal failure in the motor cause the explosive display seen in the picture. The flames only lasted for a fraction of a second, the driver was wearing full safety gear and escaped unharmed. The car was extinguished right away by safety personnel. The minor damage to the car is being repaired and should be running again in the next couple days.
Thanks for your concern.

Good to hear.
Next time you guys are in michigan for an autocross hit LTU up. We go to events from time to time but its no fun without any fsae cars. Last time we were in monroe and ran into some of your alumni.

Condolences on the fire. We know how destructive they can be, even that fast of one. If you find intermittent car problems cropping up later on, look to the wiring harness first.
After our '07 fire, the whole engine-side wiring harness had to be rebuilt from scratch, and it only flared up for less than a second.
Good luck getting it all repaired!

Good to hear you guys are bouncing back
It was great to have some competition last weekend, and I am glad everyone was okay.
Hope you guys can make it to the next D.R. SCCA event.
P.S. This is the first time I saw this, I was strapped into the car at the time, Those are bigger flames than I thought!!!
