We are thinking of making a carbon fibre steering wheel, and I would like to know some information about

the wheels that other schools have made.

For those teams with hollow wheels (rather than the foam cored type), how many layers do you use to make

the rim?

What weight is the cloth that you used?

Have you had any problems with cracking?

How did you determine the most comfortable profile for the driver's grip?

I'm not sure about round steering wheels but you may want to look into the CF Easton Monkey Lite DH handlebar for mountain biking. Their design alowed them to make a bar at almost half the weight of the typical down hill bar with three times the breaking strength. Also they are hollow.

The weight of the foam is practically negligible and adds a substantial amount to the rigidity. The mass of the foam core is on the order of grams.

Hey Mr. Dofous

we found a great profile off of a 85 celica gt. I'm sure that you may be able to incoporate this
