Hi all,

I'm setting up a CFD in VECTIS for UARC07's intake. I was wondering if anyone out there had some MAP and MAF data for the engine while running a restrictor? For an initial CFD I'll be running it in SS to see what this plenum will do, later it'll be merged into a Ricardo WAVE simulation...

Cheers

Hi, for steady state (or transient either) I don't think any MAP data would prove useful to set up the CFD problem. I'd assume a pressure drop across the intake, probably around 20kPa. You probably would want to find a pressure drop that takes you close to choked flow at the restrictor.
As for coupling with WAVE follow the tutorials, they are very straight forward.

Yeah I thought as much, thanks anyway. I was thinking setting each runner outlet at a prescribed mass airflow rate and a static pressure at the plenum inlet would be suitable, but it seems as though WAVE will be enough. I've already started with the WAVE-VECTIS coupling and should be fine from there I'd think. The tutorials that come with Ricardo software are great, excellent resources for anyone intending on doing intake or exhaust work in FSAE.
