Question Regarding Heat Treatment of Superalloy (Rene 125).

Regarding Subject, I have a Problem.after pracipetation treatment of parts of alloy Rene 125, were found not correctly straightened. our production department did straightening after precipitation treatment which is technically not allowed.

Is it possible to Re Heat Treat (Homogenizing, Solution Treatment and Precipetation Treatment) those parts which are already precipetated hardened.
I already rejected these parts.

PIA.. Pakistan International Airlines? Out of Karachi airport? And you're asking a collection of college kids for HT advice on what I'd imagine is a highly stressed critical part?

Here's my take on it:

By annealing (or similar process) the impurities (which have entered your part while precipitation hardening it) will dissolve into the materials lattice (rather then forming its own lattice). This will change the composition of the main material and it might not respond the same way to a second round of precipitation hardening. Mental note: NEVER fly with Pakistan International Airlines. Engines are liable to explode.

Actually this is my final year Engineering Project with PIA. and they are already rejected that part. PIA manufactured most reliable and high quality engine part
