Drop tests are no good. In-car testing is where it's at. Just have someone on a moped pace the car, and then drive it into a firmly planted backhoe bucket. There's a nice video on Youtube of how some guys in Thailand did it, I'd check that out.

Be careful before you give such "advice".I think this guy will take it seriously and do the test like the Thai team or probably something worse. Motorsports is dangerous.
Killswitch- Use Google or the "Find" button at the top if you have any doubt.

Killswitch- NO ONE in this forum will help you if you do not do any research yourself before asking questions. You need help regarding your impact attenuator drop test, right? First think for yourself what the layout could be like. Go to Google, type "Impact Attenuator Drop Test" and you will get many results. Search on the FSAE forum. Go to youtube and search for videos of IA testing(not the Thai one). After you have finished going through them, make a list of possible ways you can test it. When you ask questions make sure that you tell us what your opinion is.
Motorsports involves a LOT of hard work. Why do you think people will just give you advice for free if they do not think you deserve it?
Hope this helps!

OK, with that out of the way, a bit more sage advice, we've thought long and hard about doing a drop test, and the collective decision amongst the team leadership, amongst those who have a good deal of experience outside of FSAE and even more on FSAE, and who know full well what would happen if something did go wrong, was that the time required to do it safely was more than we were willing to invest. And that was during the days when IA reports were graded and considered as a part of your design score.
It wasn't worth the time and risk for us when it was graded, now that it's not graded we don't even think about it. Not enough to gain.
