View Full Version : Can we made the chassis from carbon fiber?

Hi all
We decide to use carbon fiber in structure of the chassis and we are wondering if the rule allow us to do this, can any expert reply on this

You can use carbon fibre, but be aware that proving structural equivalency can be a very involved process as there is currently no accepted standard layups in the rules. In the first year of a carbon tub it is likely that you will spend more time on the structural equivalency than designing and making the tub.

Keep that in mind in team meetings.

sorry, but I canīt find the answer to my question on the rules, I think it isnīt clear. The front hoop yes, but the front hoop bracings?

I don't think the Rules are a questions and answers booklet, think a little, if how many hundred teams use carbon chassis it cannot be too illegal.

A carbon fibre chassis is only legal in combination with ion-implanted unobtainium which has been vacuum-alloyed with marsian rock...
