I would like to start getting into some video editing, but I can't seem to find any decent software. The stuff I've been getting is extremely basic and has a hard time with larger files. So I was wondering if anyone knows of any software for cheap or free that does a nice job for this sort of application?

Well, "Cheap" and "free" have different versions. Adobe Premier is pretty nice, but expensive if you buy it.

I'm cheap as they come, I've dinked around with iMovie a bit and like it.
Flip side of the coin, it came on my Mac, doubt it's available for PC's for free.

Cheap/free is kinda hard to find, but I have some experience with the Pinnacle Systems Studio basic version... simple program that allows for expansion. It's definitely not Adobe Premier, but gets the job done. I think version 10.5 is available for about $50 ($30 now as they have a mail-in-rebate deal going on) Pinnacle Studio (http://www.pinnaclesys.com/PublicSite/us/Products/Consumer+Products/Home+Video/Studio+Family/) It's a bit more expensive if you need the A/V or Firewire inputs.

Windows Movie Maker actually does an alright job. It is very basic but you can splice videos and audio pretty well.
