Team Autotecnica, the Concord, Ontario based Championship Winning Racing Team, is looking for full time personnel (part time may be considered) for the 2008 season and beyond due to expansion of operations. The openings are for the full 2008 racing season and includes pre-season testing, so a January 2008 start is to be expected.
These are rare opportunities to take a first step directly onto the ladder of professional motor racing for the right people. As the team was started by a group of Formula SAE students in 2002, a tradition of offering opportunities to similar people for advancement within the racing industry has been evident in past years and the team wishes for that to continue.
Junior Mechanic:
Reporting to the Crew Chief and working with the other team mechanics, the Junior Mechanic will perform general team duties, involving some direct work on the race cars. This would be an ideal starting position for an individual wishing to start a career as a Race Mechanic. Requiring good mechanical aptitude, common sense and high attention to detail, the position will be under direct supervision, but it is also expected the right candidate will be able to work largely under their own initiative relatively quickly within the training programme. As the team is considering the possibility of running a test car for the 2008 season, it is possible that the right person, showing the right aptitude, may progress to some of the responsibilities involved in running this test car.
Junior Data Engineer:
Assisting and reporting to the team Race Engineer, responsibilities will include monitoring of the data system run on the cars, maintaining the various databases for tracking components and spares, and record keeping of track sessions and parameters, among other duties. The right candidate will have high computer literacy, with MS Word and relatively high MS Excel experience preferred, as well as either experience of (or an aptitude to learn) data collection software, computer networks, databases and Matlab.
All positions require hard-working, responsible and professionally oriented individuals who have a desire to succeed. Candidates must be able to travel frequently for work abroad, including the US and Europe. Flexible work hours apply as testing programmes require the team to be away for several days at a time, and races occur on weekends and frequently over holidays.
Applicants should send resumes detailing all relevant experience to the following address:
