Need help with trigger wheel on honda

Hi guys this is my first post

I'm member of Fesb racing team and this is our first year, and we are having little problems.

Our engine is Honda Hornet/cbf 600 from 2007.
This engine has only primary trigger on crankshaft and no trigger on cam.
But the trigger wheel has 12 tooth and 3 tooth are missing ? so it's 15-3 wheel
Problem is that we use Vems ECU and VemsTune software,and we can't set on software 3 missing tooths. We have options for -1, and -2, but not -3
We put old firmware on vems which should support n-3 pattern but no luck.

So my question is can we change trigger wheel, for example for 12-2 and where to buy that? Or do you have any other advices.

I have no experience with the Vems ecu, but I don't see a problem with fitting a 12-2. You would probably be best making it yourself.

Another tactic might be to add a CAM sensor to the engine, our team (not me) have done this in the past with the old honda engine. You could then use a no missing teeth crank wheel (if the Vems support this configuration.)

When making new triggger wheel does it have to be exactly same dimensions and mass as serial? I dont know if putting different wheel have any effects on crankshaft balance?

The hornet 2007 trigger wheel is part of the starter clutch, so it'll not be easy to make one.

The cbr trigger wheel is the same except the number of tooth (12 equally spaced). It'll be easier for you to "cut" one or two tooth from a cbr trigger.

If like us your ecu need more than 12 tooth, you can grind all tooth and replace the washer with a laser cut plate with tooth and machining.

i also thought about that, but i cant find that trigger on internet, i also checked honda spare parts catalog....
we will contact our honda dealer to see if they can help us

If you can make a CBR trigger fit then I would go for that, just like Hub says, with either one tooth ground away or, leave them all in and fit a Cam sensor (if your ecu supports it)

It's the part number 9 but I'll be cheaper to buy a used part.
