Vehicle Dynamics E-Learnings or E-Seminars?

Hello:

Does anyone know of an online course available regarding vehicle dynamics?

Preferably an intense course, something like the many schools offer in their engineering colleges.

I saw that SAE.org just got one, but I do not have $1200 for fork over as a student http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif And even if I did, it does not seem very theoretical or at the same intensity as a course found in college. (I have emailed them already and hopefully they can maybe offer a discount...)

I have been trying to dissect these vehicle dynamics texts on my own and I just do not learn so well without some sort of guidance or instruction.

If you dig around a little bit(find the syllabus, everything is hotlinked off of that), the course notes Penn State uses in it's vehicle dynamics course are available online. I had the benefit of going to class, but I found them to be pretty comprehensive.

Chances are you won't be able to get the lectures for free(I don't know what MIT does) but there are a couple schools that offer distance learning courses(Purdue, Michigan, and others I'm sure) that would fit the bill. $1200 is a lot to fork over for an SAE course, but if you spent that on a course you could use towards your degree it might be an easier pill to swallow. A school might also offer a lower fee if you just want to audit the class.

Honestly, I am willing to dig deep for that 1200 if the course will put me on the same level as other FSAE students.

I guess I am just not a good student, but I need some lecture to go along with my readings for anything to make sense.

I live in Houston, so there are no local schools that offer vehicle dynamics courses, or else I would of bugged them until they let me sign up just for it.

Since I am still in school, driving to Austin (UT) or College Station (A&M) is not an option, and even after school prob will not be if I am not working nearby.

anvit, there's a video made by mark ortiz about vehicle dynamics that cost about 50 bucks. He doesnt have it on DVD, i dont think. I havent seen the content, so i cant really comment on it. But it's a start.

Maybe someone who has seen can comment more.

Cool, how long is it? I have cable internet, so if he has a decent upload, I could probably purchase/download if its what I need.

I believe it is on VHS only.

I am sure I can find a VCR somewhere...Anyone have information about what is covered on these tapes?

Being VHS, I am guessing there are several tapes...

EDIT: I do not think there is a way to contact him, the most recent post by Mark Ortiz is in 2003 and his email does not work. Any suggestions?

anvit, try searching for Kurt Bilinski on this forum. I believed he bought the tape. You might be able to find the info for mark ortiz from him.
