I'm not on any team yet, but I was wondering how many members all the teams had. Obviously you want to have enough people so that each area of the car can get sufficient development, but you also want few enough so that everyone gets a good chunk of experience and learns alot.

At the moment, what I can recall offhand is

Senior Design - 11 (3 of which returned from last year)
Undergraduates..
Juniors - 5 (1 of which did a design independent study)
Sophomores - 5 (1 of which did a design independent study)
Freshmen - 1

Hopefully we'll get a couple more juniors this semester

Three of us designed the car and another one or two people helped us build it. THATS NOT ENOUGH...thats why it took us two years.

Thats how we were in '01 or so. Getting anything done like that is a hell of an accomplishment

There were typically 30 - 40 members with about 6 actually building the car.

2 Super Seniors from last years team

7 Seniors (3 from last years team)

15+ underclassmen that have actually done something

misc. others who haven't

So far the only people who have got things done on the car are the top 9 and 3 or 4 of the others. However, theres only 4 of us that really know whats going on with the entire car.

we have about 17 members...judging on those who are active/get work done members...
only a handful are seniors/super seniors...the good majority are all underclassmen

wen we bought our team clothing for this year we bought 50 shirts! but i think ive only seen about 20 of them since then!!

so technically 50! but how many of those people actually do anything is another matter!

The number of the involved now is

1 Leader (postgraduate)

3 Engine

4 Chassis

2 Frame (1 postgraduate)

Except chassis, only one or two actually do design of each section.
The half of team is junior.
It is difficult for non-mechanical newcomer to adopt to this activity and comer turn into goer soon.
I thinked our team is small though, not much different with other teams in number.

5, isn't that two and a half times what you had last year? Hope you guys get a car done this year. It is nice to see other Oregon teams be successful.

We are somewhere around 20 contributing members, I'm not too sure as I've graduated and haven't been around much this year.

Well, depending on season, weather, midterm schedule, pub nights, magnetic storms and alignment of stars we have between 40 and 5 people coming out to our meetings.

The school I attend has a strange setup- two seperate 'sections' of students. My section has about 25-30 that show up at meetings and free barbecues, but probably 8 or 10 that actually help out when needed. The other section has about 6 people total, maybe 2 or 3 that work.

This is our first year at WSU and we have like 40 or so people "officially" on our team.

about 4-5 people have helped with the frame. we had no welders at the begining of the year, so me and another guy have kind of self taught ourselves to TIG.

weve got about 10 dedicated fools total.

we work in the same shop that mini baja does so some of those guys help out a little.

Let me think... the last time we were in a Directive Staff's Reunion we counted about 45 members that is less than other years... but only 15 (maybe less than that) are actually working and worry about the project. All of us are undergraduated (there is some kind of weird rule in our univ that prohibits postgrade people to participe in projects like this) from 1st to 5th year of carreer.

We have 7......2 doing some suspension, 2 doing chassis/frame, 2 on a new gear box and 1 guy designing a diff. Put a pot of coffee cause production starts next week....or year or whenever. One day we'll have a competition car.

There's about a dozen people who have come out and done an odd job or two. However, there's probably about five people that do serious work.
