we have purchased a chain "RK 520GXW 1000cc Rated Heavy Duty X'ring Sealed Chain"
but it turned out that the dimensions of the chain were not that of a standard 520 chain coz the roller diameter turned out to be 10.3 mm instead of 10.16 which is standard and the chain would not fit around a sprocket manufactured according to a 520 chain.
has anyone faced such a problem if so what do you do in such a case.
and which other chains to use instead of the above which comes with standard dimensions.

How much clearance did you account for in your sprocket design? .14 mm (.005") really isn't a lot of clearance.

We had a local manufacturer to make the sprocket for us. And according to him he had only one cutter for a standard chain of pitch 15.875mm and roller dia 10.16mm... Which means on my sprocket the chain with roller dia 10.3 mm will not fit around the sprocket. Its like fitting a circle of 10.3mm dia inside a circle of 10.16mm dia. So i checked the dimensions of the old chain that i had and its roller dia was 10.16 which fit perfectly around the sprocket. Now i think the problem is much clearer.

Glad you found the problem.

Ive seen it work before(not in your case but hte opposite), but you eat away at the life of the sprocket.
