We just got in our Dynalite single floaters and noticed that the pads don't have a clip to secure them to the piston. Has anyone had any issues with the pads rotating on the pin?

Thats why they suck.We had to do the following fixing the old car we had. Slice .5" thick chunks off of a .125 thick steel angle and weld them to the floater bracket. Why they dont have walls that protrude out to keep the pad from rotating is a mystery to me. Maybe they are older in design. I asked this question awile ago and nobidy commented so...

If you notice, the steel dowels (the ones the caliper floats on) have a treaded end. This threaded end is "inside" the caliper, or facing the rotor. When you fabricate a mount you have to machine a u shaped slot for the brake pad, this holds the pad in location, stopping it from sipping around the cotter pin. Do not take the caliper apart and flip the steel dowels around. Do not mount the caliper from the back. There are two reasons for this. First, by placing the mounting plate as close to the disk as possible there is a smaller moment generated on the caliper, resulting in stiffer assembly and a caliper which floats better.

The second and most important is that the mounting plate for the caliper is also going to hold the pad in place; the pad on the piston side. The mount will look like a squared off U. With each arm of the u tapped for the Steel Pins, and the center section of the U will hold the pad from spinning. This also means the load form the pad will go directly in the mount, and not threw the caliper, resulting in a stiffer assembly, and a caliper which floats better.

IF YOU HAVE QUESTIONS I CAN SEND YOU A DRAWING.

I think a picture would be helpful, if you want to, start an account at like photobucket.com and then paste in the image link under the picture...I'm sure some other teams would like to see this as well.

I see what you're saying, Wright D. Just to placate Mike you can send a drawing to uwpformula[at]yahoo[dot]com. I'll let our upright guy know what to do. Thanks for the help!
