Hi!

some months ago i read a very very interesting book on race car data logging. Among other things, one chapter explained how to calculate wheel loads without having strain gauges on pushrods but only with suspension potentiometers on springs.

I tried to do this calculation but i didn't succed.

There are obviously some differences between actual loads and calculated loads because in this way we don't keep tires in analysis..but in your opinion how big the error is?

And which is the best way to calculate load without strain guages?

Any (also mathematical) suggestion is appreciated..

there's no one set way to do it, but knowing the sprung mass of the car and the suspension geometry, it's possible

as a starting point, the suspension displacement data will give you the instantaneous weight distribution, which you can use to create a rough force model.. work from there

you'll generally get better results from these forums for specific or at least well researched questions
