View Full Version : Swaybar setup
Hey all, does anyone know (and have pics) of both a front and rear pullrod swaybar setup? In my recent visit to FSAE-A, all the cars running swaybars were using a pushrod layout. Is it possible to run swaybars with the limited space in a pullrod setup? Cheers.

Cheers for that fellas. Ash, I managed to dig up some pics of your rear bar from the comp; that's a pretty nice setup there.

And for some reason it looks similar to Cornell's 2003-04 car, what with the fuel tank and radiator placement. Rear pullrods are different, though, as is the roll hoop. Mind saying how heavy it is, minus body?

Hey Dave, sorry for the late reply. As I mentioned in some other threads, we got a very early jump on construction and the 05 competition in general. The 05 car is not in complete competition trim, but we have tested it quite rigorsously with what will hopefully be last year's wheels, cv's, and uprights. As for looking like last year's Cornell car, I used some designs for inspiration but really only the general design of the steering rack was something that I got from them. The frame design was based entirely off of our FEA result of our Daystar truss analysis software (gotta plug our especially supportive sponsors whenever possible). The pull rods are only a slight revision from the design we have used for the past 2 years, and the gas tank is positioned the same as it has been on our last 4 or 5 cars, maybe longer. The rad was something that we stumbled onto after the frame was complete and we realized last year's location was no longer going to work. I like this year's design much more due to the fact the system is smaller and tighter and hence lighter. Aditionally, the rad is rotated so the inlet is above outlet and the small electric pump we have will never lose prime, an endurance ending problem for us last year. The weight, well, its not as light as we would like, but it is about 45lbs lighter than last years car, but I suppose thats the case with everyone's cars, http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif.
