We've recently got an F4i donated to us but we can't get it to start.

Is there a theft deterent system? (does the key have to provide a certain resistance within the key lock cylinder?)

We were faced with this type of problem several years ago with our GSXR and only this year got over it with the help of this forum. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Ok, I'm completely clueless electrically, but F-USB in Vzla told me how. One of them should be able to correct me and elaborate. The basic fix is to put a 12 V Zeder diode on the pink security wire I think. I think there are a few other threads on the forum as well that might have links. I wish I could find the diagram that they sent me, but it's somewhere at home.

There is a security system built into the ley switch mechanism. Ther is also a kickstand switch and a bank angle sensor that are needed/neede to bypass to make the engine fire. Order a factory service manual. They're only about $80 online. Read up in the FSM. Everything you'll EVER need to work with that engine is in there.

As far as I know you also need the stock cluster hooked up. After bypassing the key, our motor still wouldn't start without the cluster hooked up.
I found that the easiest way to run the engine on the bench without the switch as to use a 9v battery to apply power to the pink wire.
