We are currently trying to run a 2004 Yamaha R6 engine in its stock form. Our goal is to prove the engine runs before we make the necessary alterations to participate in the competition. Currently, we have spark plugs firing, a starter turning, and fuel being pumped at approx. 55 psi. We are looking at getting a regulator to decrease fuel pressure to approx. 40 psi. All components seem to be working fine; however, we have not added the intake temperature sensor to the wiring harness. Could this, or the fuel pressure, be the reason why the engine doesn't fire? If anyone could give us advice/ a wiring schematic regarding what sensors need to be included, it would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

Are your fuel injectors firing and is the crank trigger & cam trigger connected?

If you are using the stock ECU, there are a bunch of kill switches that probably have to be connected (neutral, sidestand, clutch, etc) The drawing for the start circuit is on page 384 of the service manual. I don't know about the R6, but in other threads I have seen people mention that on the F4i there is an anti theft system that must be bypassed as well.

You'll need your battery to have a good 12V supply, any less and the ecu won't allow the R6 to fire.

We run a 600R, basically the same motor. The best thing to have is the service manual for your engine's year to start the diagnosis. If you're running the stock trigger wheel, obviously you'll need to have had made sure that your ECU can pick up the pattern and know when to fire injectors and spark plugs. If you've wired anything backwards of the correct firing order, that would make for a no go situation.

We do need a bit more info:

Does the starter engage?
Do you smell gas?
Which ECU are you running?
Have you connected all the necessary systems for the stock ECU to be ready to fire (neutral trans sensor, etc)

Some simple preliminary tests are:

Voltage test to each of the injectors.
Take out a spark plug with fuel system disconnected and see if it'll spark (hold it to something metallic)
