Anyone interested in attending Nationals this year should look into getting registered before the early entry deadline on Aug 10. Prices double to $300 after this date.

Forgot to mention. We were able to work it out with the SCCA to allow Electrics and Hybrids this year. Unfortunately they will be run as exhibition only, but its better then nothing. So if there are any hybrid or electric teams out there come on out! We are trying to get our electric back together in time to make an appearance.

Official SCCA release:

The following has been added to the Supplemental Regulations: “Formula SAE cars powered by an electric motor(s) and Formula Hybrid cars will be allowed to participate provided they comply with the safety requirements of the Solo Rules. See Section 18.5 of the Solo Rules for requirements for FSAE cars. Electric and hybrid cars will run for exhibition only, will be scored separately, and are not eligible for trophies in the FSAE class.”

I'll probably be there if I can get the TR11 working again. Really needs a new f4i...

Thanks for the reminder Nick! Me and Ricky are going to try to bring the Oklahoma 06 car. We also need to order tires. Any suggestions? We run 13X7’s

Kyle,

From my understanding it depends on the car and your driving style. The newest Goodyear has a higher peak grip, but only at higher slip angles. The current Hoosier has lower peak grip, but higher grip at the SA's our car likes to operate (and i like to drive). Because of this our back to back testing of both tires last fall showed a ~1 second improvement on an SAE autocross course, and is the main reason we made the switch to Hoosiers this year. So i cant guarantee it, but with the way you drive id probably recommend the Hoosiers (43162).

We also thought they turned on a little faster and didn't overheat as easily.

A large benefit for the Goodyear's is that they weigh ~2 lbs less per tire.

Tires are ordered and Registration Complete! It’s on Son! I can’t wait. I was super bummed we missed out on UTA weekend, but this will hopefully make up for it.

In a homage to the 2007 OU car in the registration where it asked about modifications I put some funny things including:

Many sexy go fast parts.. Including Rich Mahogany

With that said, Let the trash talking begin!

You know why it’s so windy in Oklahoma?
Because Kansas sucks and UTA blows!! http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_razz.gif

Paddock registration is online this year. Any of you want to try to organize reserving a block of spots?

Except Oklahoma, no Okies allowed.

I hope that they know how to handle these cars from a safety point of view...

Several SCCA officials came by our shop to see what they would be dealing with. I'm sure they will take the proper precautions as well as instruct all corner workers during the heat we run on how to approach the vehicle if something does go wrong.

They were actually excited to have us come out since as they see it over the next several years there will be more and more electric vehicles that could potential come to their events.

Let's hope that the excitement comes with a thorough electrical scrutineering as well. Is there any kind of scrutineering at SCCA events?

There is but in the past for our cars it has been just a little bit of tire kicking and helmet checking. I'm sure they will have to revise their procedure or at least come up with a method to verify that the cars meet FSAE/FHybrid rules. Well see.

Great job Nick! well deserved. I am sure this is the first of many championships.

We are looking forward to doing this again in June for spring nats! You better bring it again, because we won't be so easy on you next time.
