Hi,

Waterloo run with a cusotmised aluminium diff housing similar to the one I designed for our car last year.

Am looking for some knowledge of the effects of this on the torque bias ratio and also any other effects noticed.

Has anyone experimented with different oils to see the effects on the TBR?

We will be using sacrificial inserts to protect the aluminium from the side gear end forces. Anyone had problems with the manufacture of these inserts to the right tolerances? Surface finish, flushness to both housing and gear end walls? Did you run with hardened steel inserts which need grinding afterwards or did you opt for the softer broze bearing material which wears out quicker?

As for the washers at either end of the diff, these are set up as in the audi quattro to differentiate the front from the rear and so will need changing. Where did you get hold of another set of the washers used to differentiate torque to the rear??

Just a few questions that need answering http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
