hello,
iam thinking about designing and building a new steel front rotor. professional brake disc manufacturers
stressed out in thier advertising that they use
their own special steel eg "race metal". i did not find any info about
the material they use, it seems to be a secrit.
they say their magic steel cools faster, brakes
harder and wears less than others. how can that be?

is it really nescessary to use a magic material
or is that just a marketing-trick? i think it
should be fine when i use steel with a reasonable strength at elevated temperature.

bye,
karsten
