Yamaha recently anounced a new snowmobile model with a two cylinder 500cc motor putting out about 80 hoursepower. Supposedly it's pretty much two crf250 motors put together. I predict it will be a good seller with it's weight and price, so in a few years the suply of motors and parts will probably be plentiful. If the history of other yamaha four stroke sleds is any indication, there will be bolt on turbo's available shortly as well.

I think it could end up being a great fsae motor, to bad it'll be after my time.

Lightweight twin, set up for a cvt, efi, etc...

Check out the front uprights too.

Yeah, it's a pretty sweet chassis, too bad it doesn't have a two stroke. It's too damn heavy for only 80 horsepower. Cat and doo are making sleds that weigh about the same with 120-140 or so with two strokes.

Sweet chassis though, that's how a sled should be made.

Uprights like that are pretty common now. My sister-in-law has similar ones on her Ski-Doo MXZ.
There was a time when I thought the Phazer was the slickest things on skis...

Wow, looks like the suspension's pretty much... just a hinge...

Quite possibly the ugliest nose on a snowmobile, but at the same time it has the best looking profile. Very aggressive and ahead-of-it's-time looking. I would drive that. I agree, that's how a snowmobile should be made. Looks like it can kick some ass.

Hmmm..
I thought they were machined uprights at first,
but they look like an extrusion.

Thats a sweet sled and it deffinately has a lot of fsae potential.

I dont know about you guys, but I would give myself about 5 minutes before I flipped it and broke off the instrument panel http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif
