Can anyone tell me what size stainless steel tubing (I.D.) I would need to get if I were to make a custom exhaust header/collector for an R6 engine? Should I go with 0.065 or 0.035 wall thickness?

Thanks

Depending on what year of engine you have, I beleive the 99-02 used a 1.375" OD Tube, and the 03-06 used a 1.5" tube for the primaries. Both are around .035" wall thickness. Im not sure waht the rest of the dimensions were.

As far as wall thickness is concerned, get the thinnest you can find/weld. Id reccomend 035 321, but 304 will work just fine.

You might have a hard time finding the bends you need in thin SS. Try SPD they have .049 stuff. If you find thinner let me know!!! Be carefull how thin you go because you will crack an .035 header on the dyno if you aren't carefull/lucky!

My mistake- Quinn is right about the .049. If you can find mandrel bends in .035, let us know.... Ive never been able to find it!!
