I have read an SAE technical paper about running FEA on a composite fibreglass Sump. HE made the sump and compared empirical measurements on the strength of the sump vs FEA analysis. Has anyone tried to use a composite sump before?

Just make sure the resin is compatible with the oil at elevated temperatures. Also make sure your calculations for strength and stiffness are using elevated wet figures and not room dry, which you should be anyways, but especially in this app.
