Hi there,
We noticed on your website that you guys have changed to same size tyres front and rear for the Formula student competition.
How did that decision come about?
Good luck in the UK
Thanks Paul,
There are a few reasons:
- Weight and inertia (about 4kg saved)
- Temperature (England we expect to be cold and would thus find it difficult to heat the narrow fronts, let alone the wide rears)
- Balance (the car was always prone to entry and mid corner understeer with the wide rear tyres, switching to the narrower rears has markedly improved the turn in characteristics of the car, outweighing the small loss in traction capability)
Doesnt look as fast though!
Cheers Al

The real reason is they built the crate too narrow! http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
