Hi,

I'm member of Formula student team from Croatia - "FS Riteh" from Rijeka.

As our team is new on scene (two month old more precisely http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif ), we are gathering as much info as possible to compete for next event in 2008.

Our plan is to compete in Class 3(Design,Presentation,Cost), as of course we obviously don't have enough time to fully develope our project car.

So far, we decided to go with pretty much basic route - welded tube steel chassis, double A-arm suspension with 4 cyl. 4-stroke motorcycle engine.

To cut a long story short,my question is this - I searched a lot around here and found many useful things about CBR 600 engines, but unfortunately can't find its dimensions - does anyone know any useful link or maybe even have some measures taken?

Tnx in advance,

Velibor V.

Hi,

Check the shared CAD library: http://fsae.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/125607348/m/99010410831, where you can find several engine models, also try searching the forums for old threads on the same topic, there are several.

You should consider your engine selection very thoroughly, weigh advantages with drawbacks and consider what is most important, torque or power, power to weight ratio, ease of packaging etc.

Good luck with one of the best experiences you can have during your education!

2 Fyhr:

Tnx - I found FSAE CAD database, and downloaded few 2D & 3D files - this is a real time-saver for fresh team :-)

So I opened two CBR engine drawings for comparison (dwg format) and I took some random measurements:

- max. head length: 14.25" (361.95 mm),
- intake port ID: 1.658" (42.11mm),
- exhaust port ID: 1.7" (43.18mm).

That seems reasonable, but I would like someone to confirm this?
