hi guys, maybe this is a stupid question, but I hope you can help me. I don't understand this point from the rules...in particular when it says that AIP has to be spaced at least 50 mm from any rigid surface. what are these surfaces?http://fsae.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Pedalbox?
I suppose that in an impact, if energy was transferred through the brake pedal into the drivers foot it could cause extra injury.

Dharma,
The rule is in reference to the testing method for the impact attenuator. The possible rigid surface would be a surface in your test setup such as a big steel mounting plate or similar.
This rigid surface as mentioned does not relate to any part of the final car.
