Does any of you have any suggestion for testing out the stock mechanical water pump flow rate on the cbr 600 rr ?

Attach a hose to one side and stick it in a bucket with a known quantity of water, time how long it takes to empty the bucket?

FYI the stock pump is connected to the drive shaft so it's proportional to the RPM.

1. Set limiter to whatever RPM
2. Mash throttle pedal
3. Jam hose in bucket

Repeat for pretty graph.

Just thought I'd spam once again - we tested and found the flowrate for a Honda CBR600RR (03-06) stock mechanical water pump. Data and plots are here: Honda CBR600RR water pump flow rate test results (http://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150813204983036.409754.559588035&type=3)

For reference, the Davies Craig EWP115 flows around 30L/min (through the block and radiator and hoses) at 12V and uses round 8.5A while doing so.

The best way to find the flow rate is to buy a flow meter from McMaster and hook it up inline with the stock cooling system in place.

Ha ha. This spam bot actually makes a valid point. Adding restrictions reduces flow, and the two different water pumps may have much different responses to this. Especially an electric pump.
