Sorry, I just realized that it doesn't work on some browsers. So far it works on Safari and Mozilla the best.

it works, and the picture looks great! but i think it'd be better if you had the camera pointing towards the car instead of that big beam in the middle of the camera. Where's the car?

OK, we moved the room around a little bit. The car is now in the center of the room on top of the oak tables. The car will be getting fully assembled in the next 2 weeks, so it should be an interesting watch.

hey dan, i saw the foam mold for the seat. I was just wondering, how long did you have to wait for the foam to mix before you actually sit in it? I always have trouble trying to guesstimate the time it takes before it starts to harden.

Congratulations on getting the camera up, now you guys just have to get used to being watched all the time. On any given weekend we have between 20 and 50 people watching our shopcam.
What software are you using for the camera? The picture quality is great, but, and this may just be my connection, the refresh rate is really slow and you can see as the new image slowly loads. We have our's running at 2fps, which seems to work fairly well. It also saves a picture every five minuets, which we can hopefully turn into a timelapse at the end of the year. I don't know about them, but we never sat in our seat after we poured the foam. It wasn't acting like it would have taken that sort of deformation very well so we just poured a little at a time and then cut it down to the right shape. So far we have about two weekends into it and we will be laying up the seat this weekend so it all went pretty quickly.

Well, it usually hardens within 5 minutes. We actually don't sit in our seat. What we are doing this year is making a "general" seat for the car, similar to last years, however, we will have separate foam inserts for different drivers. The foam can be poured right away, and if a person were to sit on/in it then the foam would expand around the person giving a nice contour, which is how we will make our inserts. I am not completely sure. The camera is actually the security camera for the room. What you are watching is a direct feed from the camera, via a view only IP address. The refresh rate gets slower when more people are watching do to bandwidth restrictions. |
