We took alot of pics and vids. Right now we are working on getting all of them compiled onto one computer, so we should be able to get them up soon for all of you. The scoring was identical to the way FSAE is scored, 50 for skid pad, 75 for acceleration, 150 for autocross and 350 for endurance.

Git up on that wheel!!!

Pictures hosted by www.FSAEnetwork.com

The autocross/endurance course was extremely tight. A noticeable amount of cones were clipped in corners. People were allowed right next to the course, which was much nicer than at Detroit, but there were some close calls due to cold tires, cold surface, and cars that are very traction limited. One very interesting note is that the top acceleration score was achieved using only 3rd gear, which meant very little wasted tire spin at the start.

Enjoy.

Unfortunately we had some drivetrain issues in the autocross that kept us from finishing the day. Thanks to Auburn for lending us a tripod so we could try to fix it.

Here's some of the photos I took.

I have some pictures and video. Most of the video is Auburn, however the pictures I have are comprehensive. I will get them up probably this evening!

Along slightly different lines. Has anyone tried to apply for the internship at the Redbull Velocity Lab? I can't get the submit button to work...

I think there is a typo, clearly the Auburn #11 should be the winning car. Big Grin

Red Bull has not yet announced any intentions regarding repeating the Red Bull Race. Last year they expressed an interest in doing it again but I have not heard anything since then. Assuming they want me to be involved again, I will let you guys know as soon as I hear something.

Thanks Ben for the response. Our adviser is constantly asking us if we will be doing this again and it kind of sucks to have to tell him "we don't know if they're even having it." Please keep us posted!

Folks (and especially those who came out to Talladega in 07!)-

With regret, Auburn announces that the Red Bull FSAE Shootout will not be held in 2008. There was a change in personnel at Red Bull, and by the time that everyone had finished asking 'what's happening', well, it was February. We would like to hold the practice competition again in January 2009. Instead of just waiting for our friends at Red Bull to tell us where and when, it is the intention of the Alabama Section of SAE to take this on as a signature Section activity. We will push the process in order to avoid bobbles like 08.

To those who had hoped to come out and do a practice competition with us, I apologize. We're sorry it didn't work out and will try again next year.
