Hi Fyhr,
Thank you for nice pics. I envy this very motor-sports minded competition compared to FSAE Japan;famous circuit, Ferrari, etc.. FYI car No.24 is Sophia University from Japan. They won FSAE Japan 2006. Ryota Osaka univ '05-'07 Power-train "Tuned car is fighter jet on the ground" OFRAC V2 alliance: http://ofrac.net/e/ |

Sick, just sick....
Thats a sweet looking track setup, no gravel pit area, and an F1 car you can play with, dang! Mike Duwe UWP Alumni Former Drivetrain Leader and Team Captain |

the track was unbelievable. as others have said the grip was unlike anything we've ever run on, (including several proving grounds). The best part for me was the garages, where unlike at East where we were on gravel you can actually setup the car.

Yea, the facility was AMAZING. For me the coolest part, was knowing that I was working on and setting up our race car in the EXACT same paddock bays that professional race teams (including F1 teams) have and still do.

Congrat to RMIT and all the other team. The finish was close. There was a lot of competitive car. Hope everyone has enjoyed the facility. My best part of the competition is to be able to see the track from the stand. I would like to thanks TU fast for there help over the week end with the CO2 bottle and other little thing and also TU Delft for there welding machine.

Im sure plenty other people will too, but we'd like to say a BIG thank you to the guys at Delft. Without their machining facilities we'd have been totally screwed, plus those guys are good chat over a beer!
Anyway, thanks again guys, see you next year. University of Strathclyde Motorsport |

report by me as always in the September issue of Racecar Engineering...
Not as controversial as in the past - dunno why - just felt like doing it differently. One thing jumped out at me - why does nobody make a proper wiring loom - most cars were horrific... Racecar Engineering - the world\s leading journal of motorsport technology |

On behalf of the Delft team I would like to say thanks for all the kind words. To be honest, none of the big ass truck, power generator and machines would have been possible without our sponsors. We are just glad we didn't need it too much.
Besides, we like to beat all the teams on the track while driving and not see them broken down in the pits. I guess this really summarizes the spirit of the competition. We are all there to learn something and lending a helping hand is part of that. I'm sure all other teams would do the same for us. As for our 2nd place overall behind RMIT (big congrats to them), we were all just amazed. Especially considering some of the issues we've had during the preparation for the competition. But a lot of guys (not me, I'm just a driver Thanks to all those teams who made this a special comp and party. I'm not going to mention all the names, but you guys know who you are See you in FS Germany! MH Delft University of Technology |

that pic posted above of me - I'm pretty sure the opposite pic of the Toronto car (by the way nice job... again) made it into print.
When I get the chance I'm going to muck around and do a web version and some extra bit but our website s poor right now so it may take a while. Regards wiring - not just me that thought that - the judges did too! Re the cinci car - I can't remember think of it having a good loom but then I cant remember seeing a bad one either. Though please don't look at my racecar at the moment if you happen to see me out to play, just trying a new data system and still using the stock (HUGE) loom. Still the same problem as your previous articles though IMHO. Take for instance the photo of the Japanese team with the aluminium spaceframe in the main news section and the Indian team with the completely unfinished car with the illegal 4WS. Can you explain the thought process by which 1 page in total of an expensive magazine was spent on these poor examples at the expense of the many brilliant examples of engineering elsewhere in the competition? If you care about the events image you might want to think a bit more about how your publication influences the opinion of people in the industry. If you print images of crap cars what reaction do you think they'll have. For the space you devote there are plenty of good cars you good have shown. Your articles seem obsessed (once again) about innovation for innovation's sake regardless of whether it's appropriate for the competition or implimented well. Having said that William C. Mitchell's article on FSE and FSAE-West was excellent and made many more interesting points about the development direction of many teams. I do agree with you on wiring looms though. Have anyone seen the FSAE article on Popular Science Magazine? No technical comment here, but i really like the layout and the graphic. I really hope RCE is paying a lot of attention to Popular Science mag and be as fun to read as PopSci.
