Good luck to all the competitors.

I'm judging at FSG because I was working the weekend of Formula Student in the UK. I've heard good things about FSG and would like to thank Frank for inviting me over.

See you there!

Helsinkis cargo just left the garage. Rest of the team will leave early tomorrow. Hoping to do a few runs tuesday somewhere in Germany.

See you all in FSG! You will see the new and improved take-away sauna! Cool

Quick update: Rain

Besides that, tech open yesterday (wed afternoon) which has helped a lot! Still the same great venue as last year but much more sponsors and partners are present!

Still raining with more rain to come during the night. As seen (and felt...) last year, the campsite isn't that rain-proof Wink

You find some pictures at our website I hope I'm able to update them regularly:

Congratulations to Stuttgart! Well deserved and this was just your second year! Yet another team to take into account for the coming years! Great job guys!

For me it was my first event as a visitor, kinda relaxed ;-)

Loved to see that yet again the cars improved so much from last year and it looked like it was one of the thightest competitions ever.

I hope the Mahle party was just as great as last year....

Grüss Gott!

Congrats to Stuttgart!

All I can say is this is the best event in the world right now. A great atmosphere and incredibly student focused.

I've posted some pics on Flickr. Completely unsorted, but hopefully interesting:

FYI,

the website is currently unavailable to to the fact that it got way too many hits over the weekend and the bandwidth of the hosting company got completely take up by FSG data. The company is currently working on moving the site over to another server, but this may take a day. So please check back later!

First of all...congrats to the organisers for such an amazing week. It was exactly how everyone who went last year described it, and is simply on another level. UBRacing will be doing everything we can to attend next year!

Secondly I'd like to ask.....did anyone get a picture of our spectacular engine failure? Rather annoyingly it actually seems like we really could have done very little to prevent it. I've had a chance to analyse the telemetry this morning and water temp was pretty average. Seems the no 1 bearing got starved of oil somehow and made a serious bid for freedom!

As a team we're all pretty happy with how we did, especially our sprint time. I was actually a little disappointed with my run as I outbraked myself on the second lap and spoiled a faster lap but we were all relieved after troubles at Silverstone that the car is actually capable of running in the top 10.

Finally, congrats to everyone else, and in particular Stuttgart. The guys were opposite us in the pits and it was a fantastically effective car, and even more impressive given the teams relative lack of experience.

I took a few photos on the static days which can be found here:

P.S. Ben....great photos of the car! Hope you can make it to design review later in the year. We're going to try and get everyone from the old teams up again and have a bit of a booze up in true UBR fashion.

Hi,

thanks a lot for your congratulations. It's really an amazing result. But it's not only a great result for us, the whole competition was awesome. Very well planned and organized, conducted by very motivated staff and the best track marshalls I have seen at a FS event. And finally the team spirit, on the track as well as on the campsite, was fantastic.

@ Mike: The TV crew, that did all the filming and the livestream for the event will possibly have caught your engine failure, too.

Cheers from Stuttgart,

Konrad

No problem Konrad. I really think you guys earnt the win. You're not a show off team with huge trailers and fancy jackets. You clearly spend all you have on the car and have come up with a simple effective design. It's great to see such a design can still win Formula Student and proves that we don't all have to spend hundreds of thousands on carbon tubs and fancy electronics.
