Does anyone know where I can find a carbon seal for the Garrett GT12? I seen a discussionon here somewhere and someone had mentioned someone out of Australia had them?

Or if anyone has any success as to how to stop oil pulling through the seal when under vacum?

Any help greatly appreciated on this topic

Smile

Chad,
To answer your PM too...
I only know what you can find on the forum.
Which is basically: Garrett of Australia was able to retrofit some GT12s for Australian schools. Garrett in the USA was not able to do this for schools because the retrofit costs them as much as the standard turbo.

Kirk will probably have something to add here.

Hey thanx for the info guys much appreciated!

Im taking a trip to Australia in 3 weeks I might give Robert a call and see if he can maybe do the turbo within my time in my homeland.

Also, I have a Zx12R Kawasaki and I run a hose from the reed valves on top of the valve cover to the crankcase to give a negitive pressure inside the crankcase, it showed minmal hp gain on the dyno but does create a good amount of vacum in the crankcase, do you think if I ran the same setup on this Triumph I am working on it would create enough vacum in teh crankcase to somwhat equallize the pressure behind and in front of the oil seal to stop the oil from pulling through the seal?

I have never put a vacum gauge on the bike to measure just how much vacum, but I know when you remove the oil filler cap its like removing the cap to a vacum sealed bottle.

What are your guys thoughts on this?

Chad
