Come on guys, this is engineering, you need to backup your ideas.

quote:
10.5 Alcohol and Illegal Material
10.5.1 Alcohol, illegal drugs, weapons or other illegal material are prohibited on the event site
during the competition. This rule will be in effect during the entire competition.
10.5.2 Any violation of this rule by a team member will cause the expulsion of the entire team. This
applies to both team members and faculty advisors.
10.5.3 Any use of drugs, or the use of alcohol by an underage individual, will be reported to the
local authorities.

Unfortunately it looks like anything while high on crack is out.

I don't know, he speaks about his wife very highly.

I'll throw in two, which might or might not make sense to anyone else:

Failing to "UNLATCH IT!"
Not knowing that "You MUST have a balaclava!"

And of course, both of those while on crack.

Chain leaving the car (no chain guard) and hitting someone's bag of crack.

If while pushing your car to the design event you snap a tie rod, lose two wheels, catch fire, and use more than 26 litres of per 100km you may get disqualified. Apart from that I think that the only way you could get disqualified for a static event is making up stuff in the cost report.

I'd like to edit Richards' statement:

"...is getting caught making up stuff in the cost report."

In the pursuit of quality information, the only ways to get "disqualified" from static events are to 1. not submit a cost report. This results in a 100 point penalty for cost (why some teams have a negative score overall) lying on the cost report AND getting caught will result in a penalty, not a DQ. 2. You can be "disqualified" from design for not submitting a design report. There is no point penalty, and you still get to compete, you just won't get to score points for design or get reviewed by the judges. You can't get DQ'd from Sales Presentation, and the only other static "event" is tech inspection (it's in the rules). BTW, reading the rules will answer most of these kinds of questions about how the event itself works.

Actually I was on a team that showed up to design without a car once, and we were not disqualified, no surprise we didn't do very well though. Things really didn't improve much when the car showed up thoughSmile

It was first group in the mourning and the car was waiting in line at the scales when our time slot for design judging started. Many reasons we didn't do well that year, all of which were our (my) fault.

Maybe best to get Claude high on crack, create a little more even playing field.

Make sure you know the modulus of elasticity of your crack.
