Just wondering what is generally accepted for the design presentation, is it mostly just a short presentation while pointing to the relevant bits on the car, or do teams prepare loads of posters and work through them?

Obviously eiher way will be followed by a lot of difficult questions.

Cheers

I noticed that (nearly) all teams in the design finals had wall after wall of posters boards, charts, data, etc. It is, after all, a presentation. You could have the best car out there but if you can't sell the car you will lose points. The judges don't care about the technical aspects of your car, that's a different event. The presentation is for the market research, features, ease of use, user-friendlyness, etc. of your car. Think "car comercial."

Practice your presentation and make sure it flows, judges like that. Answer all the questions confidently. You only get 30 minutes and plan on 15 of those minutes for question and answer.

Yep - sounds good. One really good way to do things is to start with a quick introduction to the car i.e. one person spends 2 mins on the car highlighting the major features, then you split up into the functional groups to take the judges around.

Another point is to take the lead and tell the judges what you did and how you decided to do it that way, rather than just standing around waiting for them to point at something and go "ohhh what's that?". It reinforces the fact that you know all there is to know about the car, and confidence scores points too Smile
