on this note, where do teams that use fox shocks (specifically vanilla rc's) get them? I'm looking for a good source, but I can't seem to find any in the bike world. do you buy them direct from fox and pay their uber-retail price?

Yea... uber-retail sounds about right. There are a few sites on the internet that have some for sale for around $300 each, but other than that I'm not sure where you'd get them cheaper. Last year's car wore a set of donated Fox Vanilla RC's for "research" purposes, and they're listed on the cost sheet at $112 each (yea right). This year we're running some air shock / spring setups on our dyno to try and avoid spending $1200 on a set of shocks.
Engineers aren't boring people, we just get excited about boring things. |

Vanilla RC's are no longer produced.
They now offer the DHX and Vanilla R. You can order direct from Fox, and the fsae price is $146.25, includes a spring, and whatever valving you need. |
