We're working on our crush structure right now at WWU...and starting to wonder what kind of speeds other teams are predicting for a frontal impact. We're currently figuring on a 30 mph impact...but it almost seems a bit high. I could see it on an autocross course built for cars, which is where we typically practice with our formula cars, but on a course where the average speed is ~30mph, it seems unlikely that you would hit a barrier without touching the brakes.

The judge we spoke to from Ricardo last year said to do for 25-30 mph.
