I don't have the picture right now and I have a big exam next wednesday... i will post the picture after that...

But I can easily see by comparing our frame with the lehigh university one that our frame is a not as much stiff... but probably not with a so high deference... we use the engine as a structural member... our frame weight about 50 pounds and I don`t really understand how other universities can have litter ones when it can be easily seen that they have more tube... we use always the minimal required wall thickness... anyway, you see with the pictures later on...

All you can see is the diameter, you can't see 'more tube'. There is no minimum wall thickness for the entire frame, just a few specific members. And even some of those can be replaced with equivilancy.

I think an important point that David didn't mention is that our frame weighed about 70 lbs last year. The car ran surprisingly well. We had an important problem with our suspension last year and managed to qualify 20th for the endurance. Judging by the looks of "sample2", I can understand that your frame is much stiffer than ours...

How much does your complete car weigh?

My car chassis weight is about 110 lbs but it was designed for years of use and ease to build. .062 tubing min wall.
Lots of room for a 3 cyl motor... car weight is about 750 without the 42 lb wing on top about 42pct front

Anybody know how to work out the rigidity of a composite chassis without using an FEA package. Don't get me wrong we have one but drawing a composite chassis would take too long.

Just on a side note anyone worked on a composite chassis and willing to share some info on how the fastened the suspension to the chassis.

thanks

Matt
