We are close to picking a chain size and wondering whether the benefits of a sealed chain outweigh an unsealed.
Looking at the resources on the Tsubaki website, an unsealed chain will have about 100 hours of useable life. This number can change considerably though depending on operating conditions. I like the idea of going with an intially cheaper chain that has better efficiency, but wonder if the judges look down on choices that make for shorter service intervals overall. oring chains are more efficient under certain operating conditions like high speed or heavily loaded. and they are way more efficient then a unlubed non-oring chain. All professional road racing bikes use o-ring chains except 125cc gp because weight is so important and loads are low.

we ran an unsealed chain on our cars until 04. after that we ran X ring chains from RK. the unsealed require a lot of maintenance and fling chain lube all over everything.

Smoke is the key to all things electrical You only need two tools in life - WD-40 and duct tape. if it doesn't move and should, use the WD-40. If it shouldn't move and does, use the duct tape. |
